How To Get a Library Card

Why do I need a library card?

  • Check out books, DVDs, CDs and other library materials
  • Search research databases from your home, office or school
  • Request delivery of a book from another library
  • Use a library computer
  • Check your library account online from home or office

How do I apply for one?
It's easy to get a free library card from the Owatonna Public Library.

Complete the paper library application in person at Adult Services to get your card. Alternatively, just print out the Library Card Application. Completely fill out at home and bring it along to the library.

Remember, when completing your application you will need to present an acceptable form of identification. For example, Minnesota State Drivers License, US Passport, Alien Registation Card, etc.

Children can also get a library card by completing the form in-person at Children's Services. Alternatively, just print out the Children's Library Card Application. Bring the child and completed application to the library to get your child's card.
